Embracing Curves

6 May

Curves and swirls are so much harder for me to paint than straight lines. They look nice, but are very time consume. These are some of my attempts. Still got a lot of practising to do!

Try: a brush with shorter bristles with the control when painting swirls

Easy Way to Impress!

Deceivingly fast and easy!!

1) Choose your colours, I would go with 3 to 5 different colours. These are the colours I used:

2) Go through each colour, painting different sections of the nails. It doesn’t have to be neat since you will be outlining each box:

3) Outline the boxes (I couldn’t decide between white or black, so I tested both and went with the black because it stood out better than with the white):

4) Add extra stripes if you want. It’s another level of detail/uniqueness. Make it your own:

Play around with colour combinations and patterns. Happy Painting!

80’s Glam

12 Nov

Over the long weekend, it was one of my best friends’ birthday. The theme to her party was 80’s glam. To go with my outfit I had to my nails equally as awesome to fit the theme.

How to:

  1. base coat
  2. paint vibrant colour, one thick layer or 2 thinner layers
  3. tape the strips of tape on an angle (use a new piece of tape for each nail, I made the mistake of trying to reuse them and it just smeared my design)
  4. paint black nail polish over the whole nail
  5. wait a few minutes and then peel off the tape
  6. touch up and edges or smears (I had to basically redo that whole left hand, the edges are as sharp as I was hoping for because I had to freehand every line)
  7. top coat

Polishes:  Flashy Fuchsia (Insta-Dri), Lightening (Insta-Dri), Pacific Blue (Xtreme Wear), Licorice (Essie), Fast Dry Top Coat (Seche Vite), Base Coat (China Glaze)

I can’t wait to try different colour combinations! I will definitely do this look again on my nails.

Simple and Easy

Polishes used: Blanc (Essie), Black is Black (Salon Expert), Gunmetal (Xtreme), Cheeky Chops (Butter), Top Coat and Base Coat of course.

I would suggest holding off on the Top Coat for as long as you can, a few hours perhaps. I put my Top Coat on the next day and it still streaked a couple of my lines a tiny bit on a couple of nails.

Play around with colours, you can do each nail a different combination of colours. I was going to do black base colour with white and yellow lines, I would probably like that better, but I was planning on wearing a dark outfit.
